Kazakhstan Removes Stockpile of Fresh High Enriched Uranium Research Reactor Fuel


Since 2002, the Russian Research Reactor Fuel Return Programme has transferred more than 2100 kg of Soviet-supplied highly enriched uranium from 14 countries to Russia. Most recently the ‪#‎IAEA‬ helped ‪#‎Kazakhstan‬remove 10.2 kg of highly enriched uranium from a research reactor located near Almaty and transfer it to a secure storage facility in Russia.
