First successful beam at record energy of 6.5 TeV | CERN


Status report from CERN. The LHC has just circulated a beam at a record-breaking energy of 6.5 TeV. When a countercirculating beam of antiparticles is introduced, the collision energy will be 13 TeV. That's almost double the 7 TeV collision energy that was used to discover the Higgs boson!
