The stunning Hubble view shows Arp 184 (NGC 1961) a spiral galaxy with a twist. Located about 190 million light-years away in the constellation Camelopardalis, its unusual shape earned it a place in the Atlas of Peculiar Galaxies.
With one bold spiral arm stretching toward us and delicate wisps of gas on the far side, Arp 184's asymmetry may be due to past galactic interactions. It's also a hotspot for supernovae, with four observed in just the past 30 years!
This image combines data from three Hubble observing programmes, capturing both its beauty and scientific value. A true cosmic curiosity.
