Tulip Nebula
• Flower-like nebula glowing red from ionized hydrogen
• Located in Cygnus, ~7,000 light-years away
• About 70 light-years wide
• Gas petals energized by young, massive stars
• Lies close to Cygnus X-1, the first confirmed black hole
• The black hole ejects matter, forming a bluish shock arc that collides with surrounding gas
• A rare region shaped by the interaction of a giant star, nebula, and nearby black hole system
