Since the fighting in #Syria began almost 5 years ago:
-Hundreds of thousands of people have died
-Half of the health workers have left the country, many have been killed
-Health facilities have fallen into disrepair, medicines & supplies are scarce
-A #polio outbreak resurged in the country in 2013, and led to the disease resurgence in Iraq
-Jordan’s refugee population has doubled in recent years; #Lebanon’s has tripled
The health cost of war. Where health systems are allowed to collapse, viruses and disease outbreaks will become inevitable. War is devastating for all.
