On this date in 1642, Isaac Newton was born. One of the most significant scientists of all time, his accomplishments are too many to list. Some of the key achievements include establishing the principles of classical mechanics, building the first practical reflecting telescope, and independently developing calculus. He was a professor of mathematics at the University of Cambridge, President of the Royal Society, and Warden and Master of the Royal Mint.
