#Mauritania’s president, Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz, recently inaugurated Mauritania’s first nuclear medicine facility, the National Oncology Centre in the capital, Nouakchott.
Cancer is increasingly recognised as a major public health problem in Africa, and Mauritania has made a firm commitment to develop its cancer treatment capacity. With #IAEA support, Mauritania has transformed itself from a country that often had to send cancer patients abroad to one that has its own staff and expertise to treat this disease.
