Supernova blast in nearby galaxy:The dwarf galaxy NGC 1569 is a hub of intense star formation, creating massive bubbles and super-bubbles that permeate the galaxy. Its "star factories" produce brilliant blue star clusters, sparked by a star birth surge 25 million years ago. Captured by the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope, the image shows bubble-like hydrogen gas structures glowing under the impact of fierce winds and radiation from young stars, disrupted by supernova shocks. These supernovae, starting 20-25 million years ago, supply and may trigger new star and cluster formation in the turbulent gas swirls.Credit: European Space Agency, NASA & Peter Anders (Göttingen University Galaxy Evolution Group, Germany)
