Japan's maglev train breaks world speed record with 600km/h test run

The record-breaking L0 train uses superconducting electromagnets to levitate over its tracks and reach a top speed of 603 km/h, which is faster than the Messerschmidt Bf109E and other fighters deployed at the start of World War II.

The seven-car ‘magnetic levitation’ train hit a top speed of 603km/h less than a week after breaking a 2003 record of 581km/h
