Black Hole
Hidden in the Perseus molecular cloud, about 800 light-years away, a young protostar sits at the tip of a glowing parabola. Its fierce stellar wind and jets are blasting through cold dust and gas, lighting up one side of a vast cavity while the other remains buried in shadow. The curved walls keep widening with time; bright knots on either side are Herbig–Haro objects, shock fronts where the outflow slams into the surrounding cloud. Hubble captured the scene after Spitzer first spotted it—star birth written in wind and light.
