This is a composite image of the pulsar wind nebula MSH 15-52, which resembles a ghostly hand. This type of nebula is known as a pulsar wind nebula (or plerion). They are found within supernova remnant shells and are powered by pulsar winds generated by their central pulsars. The famous Crab Nebula is another example of such a phenomenon.
